A Welcome Letter

A Welcome from the Church Minister

I would like to warmly welcome you to the website of Sheffield Presbyterian Church.

The date of Saturday the 2nd July, 2011, marks a ‘milestone’ in the church planting work of Sheffield Presbyterian Church. On this day around 150 people witnessed the ordination and induction of myself (Rev. Dr Kevin Bidwell), to be the minister and church planter for this congregation. The service included the singing of Psalm 122 and 116 vv 12-19, along with the hymns ‘And was it for my Sin’ and ‘Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing’. The word of God was read and Rev. Dr Bob Letham preached a sermon on ‘the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-23)’. This sober but joyful celebration was attended by members of evangelical churches from the greater Sheffield area, as well as Christians from as far away as Cardiff, Wrexham, Chelmsford and Gateshead. It was a wonderful sign of the wider unity of the church of Jesus Christ.
It is our desire th at in the months and years ahead, that God would be glorified through the preaching of the gospel and the spiritual care of Christians, in and through this church. Whether you are student coming to Sheffield to study, or someone visiting family members in the region, or indeed someone who is seeking a church that is committed to doctrinal Christianity, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you, to come and worship the Triune God with us on the Lord’s Day. Our services are at 11.00am and 5.00pm and the directions to our meeting place are on this website. Please explore our website and perhaps listen to the selection of sermons which are available.

Warmly,

Rev. Dr Kevin J. Bidwell Minister
