Students

Are You a Student in Sheffield who is looking for a Church?

Welcome to Sheffield Presbyterian Church’s University Student Ministry! As a church, Sheffield Presbyterian is devoted to the sound preaching of the Word of God, confessional Presbyterianism, seeking the lost in Sheffield and surrounding areas, and providing a close knit community of the saints that gather with us. We desire to reach out to university students at both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, and since the church’s inception in 2010, we’ve had an open heart and open arms to university students. It is our goal to evangelize students who are far off from the Lord and also to teach and equip those who are saved. Through involvement in Sheffield Presbyterian’s Sunday School, Sunday services, Midweek meeting, and other Bible study groups we hope to offer many opportunities for students to grow in their faith. Sheffield Presbyterian Church is a particular church of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of England and Wales, a reformed church which holds to the Word of God as being the inspired, inerrant Word of God and holds that the purest expressions of scriptural doctrine are found in the Calvinistic creeds, particularly the Westminster Confession of Faith. As a ministry of Sheffield Presbyterian Church, we seek to learn more about these foundational doctrines, to study Holy Scripture, to understand how God’s Church works and how we are to be more involved in it.

Our Sunday services are located at the historic Hill Top Chapel across from the English Institute of Sport. The chapel is easily accessed by tram and bus from the city centre. The chapel is only five minutes walk from the Arena/Don Valley Stadium tram stop on the Yellow Line towards Meadowhall. Get off the tram and go left towards the English Institute of Sport. The chapel is directly across the street. It is only 12 minutes from the city centre. Bus #69 stops right outside the chapel and runs every twenty minutes. We also have a car park and are located minutes from the Ring Road. Please let us know if you need more information about how to find us.

Our Bible Studies

As a church, we are very committed to the teaching of right doctrine and the study of the Scriptures. Therefore we have several weekly opportunities for students to be fed in the Word of God. Students are more than welcome to attend our church’s Midweek Meeting where we are currently doing an overview of the books of the Bible. The studies are held at Hill Top Chapel and are a great opportunity to meet other members from church and participate in a small group Bible study.

We also have a Bible Study that meets every Wednesday morning (unless announced otherwise) at 7:30 a.m. at Costa Coffee on Division Street. Right now we are on our summer holiday, but beginning this Autumn we’ll be going through the Letters of John using Dr. Ian Hamilton’s Let’s Study the Letters of John. It is a wonderful study for men and women to grow in their love and knowledge of God as well as grow in love with one another. It is a great time of encouragement and a definite highlight of the week.
